Local Blog 1. Why are the local blogs. Gianluca has placed a few days ago, a rhetorical question that masks an attitude imho not very productive: we really need a local news blog of the Italians?
No, we do not need. As we do not need nor Macchianera of my blog or a thousand others. However, while not motivated by a need, we must acknowledge that blogs exist, and that somehow you are cutting out their role in the ecosystem of the media. The number of weblogs grows exponentially and the rules that govern the system are changed. New factors emerge and open up new possible fields of application of an apparently simple model of independent publishing.
Personally, I find that the discussion on the weblog (as a general theme) is now complete. Weblogs are too many and too diverse to be united in a single speech. I agree with those who maintain weblogs that lead to a new balance between the citizens of the age between citizens and the media and shaping public opinion. I also believe that this balance, to be intellectually deal with them, we must now examine the individual issues. For example, to choose those that interest me most, the relationship between political communication and the one with the formation of opinions in individuals.
Another effect of the critical mass of weblogs, imho, is the likely evolution towards a mature use of blogs. These pages of simple instructions, as we like to regard them as hobby and amateur, are nonetheless part of a process of communication. Use only in a conscious way is not an obligation, and we continue to hear the music every cazzeggiano we want. Or we can decide to use them more effectively.
It seems obvious that a road does not exclude the other and each can take the fork that most fascinates him. If you favor the ode to fooling around, you do not care what follows.
I am convinced that weblogs are not a trade or business, and indeed I think that part of their role is just that. Independence, in our world of communication, is a value. However, there are sufficient reasons to reflect on how to keep a weblog today. For the simple desire to do well, maybe. Or look for a real comparison. O for a thousand other reasons, if you enter you find yourself in the shoes of readers.
If we look at the Weblog as a communication tool, we realize immediately that the result depends on two equally important factors: the personality (which according to Steve Outing is the main asset of the bloggers) and content. If personality is one thing that you can work relatively (with humility, hard work and time consuming), the contents are rather a strategic choice. A year ago on this channel we were discussing how to set them. The problem, however, then it was less urgent and maybe more on interest. Today, I agree with Glenn Reynolds (Blogging: The Next Wave) and are increasingly convinced that customize your weblog is doing is more mature. What
means to customize. According to Reynolds customize it means to cut specific to content. The cut can be characterized by a specific thematic approach (perhaps the topic that we are passionate about or that we can express opinions competent) or an interest in what happens in a local area of \u200b\u200bwhich we can be witnesses. For example, as a friend said to me, talk about musical activities in a certain city, or focus on a particular sector of our social activities and / or cultural. The combination of personality and choice of content facilitates costruzuione of an identity on the Internet and our identification by interested readers. I am convinced that this will respond to also a requirement of the reader.

[Blogging: The Next Wave] Disadvantage number one. Compared to the U.S. we have a couple of drawbacks to the development of a strategy for local information. The first, obviously, is that here the spaces are not so wide and the online population is not very large. This obviously would make a pretty useless blog that deals with social life in San Chirico Raparo. But it is a surmountable problem, selecting an area slightly larger, as is making South Salento. On the contrary, in large cities there may be an imbalance between available time (the blogger works, usually) and news coverage. Again, the solution is simple if you have any ideas. If Tom decides to tell the nightclubs in Milan, or restaurants or events with Emilia Jazz & Blues in Rome, would get immediate results. The experts started sending press releases, people start to look for, etc.. etc.. Broadcast news today is not only a task of information: often it is a service for those who need to disseminate it.
Disadvantage number two. The second problem, compared to the United States, it is our superstition of faffing around. Although everyone likes the blog who play their role well when we need to feel informed, we are persecuted by a certain aura of superficiality. That is partly due to our own internal perception and the perception of who (among bloggers) is called on to convey to the outside. If you invite 5 people to a meeting to talk about blogs, in Italy, we can bet that at least one a priori knows nothing and is there by chance. As for the other, at least two will fare with fintomodeste statements like this: blogs are a fun crap. Then we are surprised how these things come to Big Media.
In fact, I am convinced (in the first person to be the bearer of this requirement) that there is a need for information in the blog somehow respond. And I am convinced that the very perception of a role accounts in the result. Obviously, I repeat, I'm not talking about professionalism, but effective communication. And I'm not talking about bloggers journalists, but the information circulated by tens, hundreds, thousands of people who share knowledge. There is nothing to go guys: If our blog "alone" is a whim, all together we are subject information. Might as well take note. I, personally, I could close Blog Notes at any time, but if I remove the blog I read that I would feel lost and more ignorant.
There is also an advantage. Despite this, we have an advantage compared to the United States. We are less, and we are more capable of doing community. If the local blog (now I know of a dozen at starting) began to spread, we could probably create a collector's attention, to network, generating the highest possible interest on the phenomenon. May seem low, but it is not. Whether you decide to opt for a simple interface (but with a content organization designed to generate interest) as I propose, or a more complex and professional, is likely to depend on how and what we can do with the experiment of blocal. Depend on how many local blogs will be born and how it will be achieved. Depend on how many ideas we will put into circulation.
For now, imho, is already good news to see that the debate in Italy is divided.
